The Museum of Photography in Krakow is the only museum in Poland devoted exclusively to the medium of photography. Its principal location in Rakowicka street hosts the main exhibition, ‘What Does a Photograph Do?’, which consists of approximately 1,000 museum objects: prints and photo albums, glass plates, negatives and historical photographic equipment. The exhibition, combining historical and contemporary perspectives, offers an accessible and reflective account of photography: its functions, meanings and influence on how we perceive the world.

The Museum also holds temporary exhibitions, accompanied by a diverse educational programme, workshops and meetings. This modern building, set in a renovated former armoury, houses additionally a cafe, a bookstore and a reading room.

Estimated time of the visit: 90 min.
