The Museum of Photography in Kraków is the only museum in Poland devoted exclusively to photography. Its headquarters, located at ul. Rakowicka, host the permanent exhibition What Does a Photograph Do? It presents around 1,000 objects from the Museum’s collection, including prints, photo albums, glass plates, negatives, and historical photographic equipment.

Combining historical and contemporary perspectives, the exhibition offers an accessible and thought-provoking story of photography: its functions, meanings and influence on the way we see the world.

The Museum also presents temporary exhibitions, accompanied by workshops and meetings – all being part of a varied educational programme. The museum’s modern headquarters, located in a renovated former armoury, also houses a café, a bookshop, and a reading room.

Information for people with disabilities

The Museum of Photography in Kraków is accessible both in terms of its building and its exhibition programme.

The building has lifts, ramps, and accessible toilets for visitors with reduced mobility. A wheelchair can also be borrowed for the duration of the visit. Four induction loops are available in the building.

The main exhibition includes a range of accessibility features, such as audio description, tactile graphics, magnifying glasses, and a guide in Braille.

The Museum also takes into account the needs of visitors with intellectual disabilities, visitors on the autism spectrum, and highly sensitive visitors. The Museum offers easy-to-read materials, a quiet room, noise-cancelling headphones, and quiet visiting hours.

Please note that the building also hosts temporary exhibitions, which may not include all of the accessibility features listed above.
