This underground exhibition presents a fragment of medieval Kraków, uncovered during archaeological research carried out in 2005–10.

Visited by nearly 4 million people by 2020, the exhibition tells the story of the Main Market Square from the 10th century onwards: from a cemetery and craftsmen’s settlement, destroyed during the Mongol invasion of 1241, to the chartering of the city under Magdeburg Law in 1257. It shows the Main Market Square as a centre of trade and craftsmanship, presenting remains of medieval buildings, the foundations of the Cloth Hall, and numerous objects discovered during excavations.

Estimated visiting time: 75 min
