MNK Ciołek is housed in the Renaissance Palace of Bishop Erazm Ciołek. Its historic interiors present an outstanding collection of medieval and early modern art, including paintings, sculptures, and Eastern Christian sacred art. The museum also holds the largest collection of icons in Central Europe.  Among its most treasured works is the Madonna z Krużlowej, one of the finest examples of Gothic sculpture in Poland. Other highlights include late Gothic altarpieces from the Dominican and Augustinian churches in Kraków, as well as The Agony in the Garden by Wit Stwosz, an outstanding sculptor of the late Middle Ages whose work has left a lasting mark on the history of European Gothic art.
